Psychologist
License Description Psychologists working in private practices, as well as those working for the Nevada State Department of Human Resources, must be licensed through the Board of Psychological Examiners. (Psychologists who intend to work in public schools must meet the requirements necessary to obtain an endorsement through the Department of Education. Requirements for school psychologists are listed separately.) Applicants must: 1) Be at least 21 and of good moral character. 2) Have a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in an APA-accredited program or a regionally accredited program shown to be equivalent. 3) Have completed pre and post doctoral supervised experience under a licensed psychologist (1,750 hours in each). 4) Pass a national written examination. 5) Pass a State Board examination. 6) Submit fingerprints for a background check. Note on Psychological Interns and Assistants: individuals must register with the Board as a psychological intern if they wish to obtain predoctoral internship supervised experience and as a psychological assistant if they wish to obtain the postdoctoral supervised experience required for licensure. Fees are: application--$100; state examination--$270; license certificate--$25; biennial license renewal--$500; late license renewal penalty--$100; psychological assistant application--$100; psychological assistant registration--$250; psychological intern application - $100; psychological intern registration- $75.
