Real Estate Broker
License Description
Categories of licensure are "broker" and "broker/salesperson". Applicants for Real Estate Broker/Salesperson must have 64 college semester units combining real estate, business, economics, and other college-level courses and pass state and national examinations. Required education courses include 9 units of real estate principles, practices, law, and appraisal; 15 units of courses in business, economics, or other real estate topics (such as finance); 3 units of broker management training and 37 units of college courses other than those listed above. Active full time experience may be applied toward completion of the total educational requirement, with the exception of 18 hours of Nevada law and the 3 units of broker management training. (Two years of experience equals 16 semester units.) Categories of Real Estate Broker license for those who wish to be licensed as a "broker of record" (a real estate broker who operates his/her own business) are "corporate," "partner," "individual," or "associate." In addition to the requirements specified for Real Estate Broker/Salesperson, applicants must submit a personal financial statement; must have been actively engaged as a full time licensed real estate broker/salesperson for at least 2 of the 4 years immediately prior to the issuance of the broker's license; pass state and national examinations. Continuing education hours are required for renewal of active status licenses. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: examination (standard)--$100; initial license--$105; license renewal--$180 (2-year). In addition to the initial license and license renewal fees there is a mandatory education, research, and recovery fund fee of $40 (initial) and $80 (renewal).
