Inspector of Structure
License Description There are 3 categories of certification: Residential, General and Master inspector. Residential inspectors must: 1) Have a high school diploma or the equivalent. 2) Have at least 40 hours of classroom instruction related to the inspection of structures that is approved by the Division. 3) Pass the examination. 4) Demonstrate the ability to produce a complete and credible inspection report according to the standards and requirements of state laws and regulations. 5) Submit a log of having observed at least 25 inspections performed by a certified general or master inspector, or by an instructor approved by the Division. 6) Submit proof of insurance coverage specified by the Division. 7) Submit 2 fingerprint cards (or electronic verification issued from an approved vendor). General inspectors must have had at least 50 hours and Master inspectors must have had at least 60 hours of approved classroom instruction. Contact the Real Estate Division for more information. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: application--$100; exam-$100; certificate and renewal--$250; fingerprint cards-$38.25 (payable to Dept. of Public Safety).
