Well Driller
License Description
Well drillers must be licensed by the Water Resources Division of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to operate in Nevada. (Note: Contractor licensing for Well Drilling and Pump Installation (C-23) is listed separately. C-23 licensing is required if you own a drilling rig.) Applicants must have at least two years of full-time well drilling experience, submit an application with references and child support information, and pass a three-part examination given in the following order: 1) A written part to determine knowledge of the well drilling rules and regulations (a score of at least 80% is required). 2) Identification of a well location on a topographic map by a full legal description. 3) An oral interview to determine drilling experience and knowledge of drilling techniques. Each part of the examination must be successfully completed to qualify to take the next part and receive a license. The examination is given once every three months in Carson City and Las Vegas. Continuing education credits are required for license renewal. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: application--$100; annual license renewal--$50.
