License Description Falconry involves the taking, or attempt to take, quarry by means of a trained raptor. A license is required to practice falconry. There are three classifications of licenses: Apprentice, General and Master. Applicants for an Apprentice license must: 1) Be at least 14 years old. 2) Have a sponsor who is a general, master or equivalent licensee for the first 2 years during which (s)he is an apprentice. Applicants for a general license must: 1) Be at least 18 years old. 2) Have at least 2 years of experience as an apprentice or the equivalent. 3) Have had a raptor during each of the 2 years. 4) Submit a signed letter from the sponsor recommending the issuance of a general license. Applicants for a Master license must have at least 5 years of falconry experience as a general licensee or the equivalent. Additional Requirements: 1) First time applicants must pass an exam (with a score of at least 80%) administered by the Department. 2) All applicants must submit the required application packet, including information on each raptor. 3) Applicants must allow an inspection by the Department to ensure they have the proper equipment and facilities. Fees are subject to change. Fees are: 1 year license --$38; 3 year license --$94.
