Nevada Certified Court Interpreter
License Description Applicants for Certified Court Interpreter must: 1) Complete the orientation workshop for interpreters in Nevada courts offered by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). 2) Pass the Nevada written exam given by the AOC (minimum score of 80%). 3) Pass the Nevada oral exam given by the AOC (minimum score of 70%), 4) Obtain 40 hours of Nevada court observation or work within the 12 months immediately preceding request for certification, 5) Submit the Certification Request form which includes a criminal history check, 6) Swear to the required oath and the Code of Professional Responsibility for Interpreters in Nevada courts. Applicants for Registered Interpreter (applies to those for whom no oral exam has been developed in his/her particular language by the Consortium for Language Access in the Courts (CLAC)) must: 1) Complete the orientation workshop for Interpreters in Nevada courts offered by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), 2) Pass the Nevada written exam given by the AOC (minimum score of 80%), 3) Undergo the oral proficiency interview (OPI) by ALTA Language Services (score of at least 12) or Language Testing International (rating of "Superior" proficiency), 4) Completed the Nevada court observation requirement of 40 hours, 5) Submit the Certification Request application which includes a criminal history check, 6) Swear to the required oath and the Code of Professional Responsibility for Interpreters in Nevada courts. Fees are subject to change. Fees are: application --$50; orientation workshop registration --$200 (NV residents) or $400 (non-residents); written exam -- $75 (NV residents) or $150 (non-residents); oral exam -- $300 (NV residents) or $600 (non-residents).
