Pyrotechnic Operators and Assistants
License Description Applicants for a certificate of registration as a Pyrotechnic Operator Assistant must: 1) Be at least 21 years old and be able to give written and oral orders in English. 2) Have not been convicted of a felony or have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. 3) Have a working knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to the safe storage, handling and use of explosive materials. 4) Submit proof of being employed in the field for at least 90 days. 5) Provide a letter of endorsement from a pyrotechnic operator holding a Nevada certificate of registration or a show-specific certificate of registration. 6) Provide a letter from a representative of the license holder. 7) Pass the written test with a score of at least 85%. Applicants for a certificate of registration as a Pyrotechnic Operator must: 1) Be at least 21 years old and be able to give written and oral orders in English. 2) Have not been convicted of a felony or have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. 3) Have a working knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to the safe storage, handling and use of explosive materials. 4) Hold an assistant pyrotechnic operator's card or be licensed/certified by another state recognized by Nevada. 5) Submit a log indicating (s)he has worked on at least 15 different shows during the 3 years immediately prior to the application date. 6) Provide 3 letters of endorsement from persons who hold a pyrotechnic certificate of registration in Nevada or in a state recognized by Nevada. 7) Pass the written test with a score of at least 80%. Applicants for a certificate of registration as a show-specific operator* must: 1) Be at least 21 years old and be able to give written and oral orders in English. 2) Have not been convicted of a felony or have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. 3) Have a working knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to the safe storage, handling and use of explosive materials. 4) Submit a log indicating (s)he has worked on at least 50 performances of the show. 5) Submit proof of being employed in the field for at least 90 days. 6) Provide a letter of endorsement from a pyrotechnic operator holding a Nevada certificate of registration or a show-specific certificate of registration. 7) Provide a letter of endorsement from a representative of the license holder for the show. 8) Pass the written test with a score of at least 85%. *Note: show-specific operator certificates of registration are only good for a specific show and are not transferable to other shows. Fees: Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: assistant operator certificate --$27.50; operator certificate --$55; show-specific operator certificate --$55.
