Asbestos Abatement Workers work on asbestos abatement projects under a certified site supervisor who is supervising the project for a licensed asbestos abatement entity. Remove asbestos from ceilings, beams, walls, boilers, and other structures following hazardous waste handling guidelines. Assemble scaffolding, seal off work area, spray chemical solution to soften asbestos, then scrape asbestos from surfaces. Shovel asbestos into disposal bags and load bag onto truck for removal and disposal.

Certification Requirements:
- Must complete either an approved 32-hour asbestos worker training course or a 40-hour asbestos supervisor course
Examination: Written examination consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions, attaining a score of 70 percent or greater
Continuing Education: An annual eight-hour refresher course and passing a written examination of 25 multiple-choice questions with a score of 70 percent or greater are required

- Annual renewal: $50
- Certificate replacement: $20
Reciprocity: Permitted if standards for licensure are substantially equivalent to those of New Hampshire
