Body Art Practitioner
License Description

Body Art Practitioners practice physical body adornment in the following classifications: body piercing, branding, or tattooing.

Legislation: NH RSA 314-A; Administrative Rules Chapter He-P 1100

Licensure Requirements:

  • Minimum requirement of 1,500 hours in not less than one year of apprenticeship training under a qualified licensee
  • Complete an approved course in methods and techniques for the proper sterilization of instruments and materials used in body piercing, branding, or tattooing

Examination: Not required

Continuing Education: Three hours of continuing education for each individual classification, and completion of a sterilization course are required for license renewal

Fees:

  • Initial license: $110
  • Biennial renewal: $110
    Licenses expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month in odd-numbered years

Reciprocity: Permitted – applicant must have documentation of practicing in another state for at least three years
