Professional Engineers determine how to combine raw materials to produce goods or build projects such as roads, dams, and bridges. Their duties vary with engineering fields, but may include planning and overseeing construction and research projects, designing equipment and machinery, and inspecting and testing materials and products. Examples of engineering fields include civil, industrial, nuclear, chemical, electrical, and mechanical.

Licensure Requirements:
- Must be of good professional character
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent, from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university in an engineering curriculum
- Certification as an "engineer-in-training" as the result of an eight-hour NCEES fundamentals of engineering examination
- Four years of accumulated experience under the direction of a Licensed Professional Engineer
Examination: Written examination required, offered twice each year (April and October)
Continuing Education: 30 professional development hours per biennium

- Professional engineer application: $150
- Biennial renewal: $150
- Engineer-in-training examination and application: $75
- Reciprocity: $250
- Certificate of licensure: $50
Reciprocity: Permitted, provided that the other state's licensure requirements are substantially equivalent to or higher than those of New Hampshire
