Water Treatment Technicians install, maintain, or repair apparatus for treating or processing water to modify, enhance, or improve its quality, and the pipes, fittings, and other components servicing such apparatus.
Note: Certification of individuals is voluntary and not required

Certification Requirements:
- Act as a water treatment trainee by engaging in learning about and assisting in installing, maintaining, or repairing water treatment systems under the direct supervision of a certified water treatment technician for a period of not less than one year
- Pass examination
- Corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, or other business entities that install, maintain, or repair water treatment systems may be certified without examination provided the entity designates one employee to be certified in accordance with the statute and rules
- The board may issue certification without examination to those water treatment technicians who provide adequate documentation of having operated in the capacity of a water treatment technician for a period of at least one year prior to January 1, 2004, and who pay the required fees

Continuing Education: A minimum of three hours per year of continuing education required for license renewal
Fees:
- Initial certification: $125
- Renewal fee: $100
- Late renewal fee: $25 per month
