Speech-Language Pathologist
License Description

Speech-Language Pathologists screen, evaluate, diagnose, treat and consult on disorders of communication. They identify, diagnose, and treat individuals who have communications disorders. This may include disorders of speech, articulation, fluency, voice, verbal and written language, auditory comprehension, cognition communication, and swallowing disorders.

Legislation: NH RSA 326-F and 328-F; Administrative Rules Chapter Ahp 100-300 and Spe 100-500

Licensure Requirements:

  • Good professional character and reliability
  • Master's degree or higher in speech-language pathology, communications sciences and disorders, or communications disorders from an approved educational institution
  • Complete a supervised clinical practicum experience at an approved educational institution
  • Complete a post-graduate professional experience under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist
  • Pass an examination in speech-language pathology
  • Military experience shall not be considered when determining whether the applicant meets the educational requirements for licensure

Examination:  Written examination required

Continuing Education: 30 hours of continuing education required every two years

Fees:

  • Application: $60
  • Initial licensure fee: $110
  • Biennial renewal: $110
  • License reinstatement: $220
    Licenses expire on December 31 of each odd-numbered year

Reciprocity: Not permitted
