Well Pump Installer
License Description

Well Pump Installers maintain and install pumps for water systems. A pump installer license is required to install new pump systems and perform maintenance on existing pump systems. There are two categories of licenses: domestic (up to three horsepower), and commercial, industrial, and municipal pump installation (any horsepower).

Legislation: NH RSA 482-B; Administrative Rules Chapter We 100-1000

Licensure Requirements:

  • Be actively engaged in the trade for a period of three years prior to the date of application, with experience directly related to the type of license issued
  • Pass an examination prepared and administered by the New Hampshire Water Well Board
  • Obtain the appropriate license from the Board

Examination:  Written examination required

Continuing Education: A minimum of two hours of continuing education pertaining to water pumps, water wells, or water conditioning and treatment systems are required annually

Fees:

  • Application: $25
  • Examination: $10 for each license category
  • License: $100
    All licenses expire annually on June 30

Reciprocity: No reciprocal agreements with other states currently exist
