License Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Land surveyors establish official land and water boundaries; write descriptions of land for deeds, leases, and other legal documents; and measure construction and mineral sites. They plan the fieldwork, select survey reference points, and determine the precise location of natural and constructed features of the survey project area. Land surveyors also record results of the survey and verify accuracy of the data through research and often prepare plans, maps, charts, and reports for legal documents. Engineering, architectural and surveying firms, state and local agencies, or public utility companies employ most land surveyors.
