License Description JOB DESCRIPTION: A mechanical inspector specializes in the inspection of heating and air conditioning, gas piping, sheet metal, or refrigeration systems. The inspector examines and operates installed mechanical equipment, appliances, and devices to determine proper functioning and compliance with construction standards and codes. Generally, the inspector inspects the condition and position of assembled parts, quality of workmanship, and the compliance of assembly plants. Local and state governments often employ mechanical inspectors.
