License Description
LICENSED REAL ESTATE APPRAISERS
A licensed real estate appraiser inspects properties and impartially prepares written or oral certified appraisal reports setting forth an opinion as to the market value of an adequately described property as of a specific date supported by the presentation and analysis of relevant market information. They can appraise non-complex one to four family residential units with transaction values less than $1,000,000 and complex units of less than $250,000.They may a appraise all properties with a transaction value up to $250,000 and agricultural properties with up to 2 dwelling units with a transaction value up to $1,000,000. REQUIREMENTS: Satisfy the education, experience, and examination requirements, pledge to comply with the standards set forth by statute, and an understanding of the types of misconduct which can bring about disciplinary action.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diplomaivalent, 150 classroom hours in subjects related to real estate appraisal which include at least 15 hours related to Uniform Ethics and Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and cover topics specified by the board.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
State Licensed: 2,000 hours of approved appraisal experience over at least 12 months and passing the Level A license Examiniation..
EXAMINATIONREQUIREMENT:
The Level A license Examination must be must be copmpleted and passed. Successful completion of an examination approved by the Commission that is based upon the Uniform State Certification/Licensing Examination endorsed by the Appraiser Qualifications Board of the Appraisal Foundation. If more than one year has elapsed since the required registration passing, then the exam must be repeated.
RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:
Renewal every two years contingent on satisfaction of continuing education requirements.
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Twenty hours every two years (twenty-eight hours effective January 1, 1998)
CERTIFICATIONS:
Two certifications for Certified Residential Appraiser and Certified General Appraiser are inlcuded withi this license. Additionally, a Real Estate Appraiser Trainee is also included.
