License Description
CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL APPRAISERS
Inspects properties and impartially prepares written or oral certified appraisal reports setting forth an opinion as to the market value of an adequately described property as of a specific date supported by the presentation and analysis of relevant market information. Can appraise all types of non-complex one to four family residential property without regard to transaction value and other types of real property having a transaction value less than $250,000.They may a appraise agricultural properties with up to 2 dwelling units with a transaction value up to $1,000,000. REQUIREMENTS: Satisfy the education, experience, and examination requirements, pledge to comply with the standards set forth by statute, and an understanding of the types of misconduct which can bring about disciplinary action.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must meet the college level education requirements and qualifying education requirements outlined by the Commission. There are four options: (1) Complete a college degree from an accredited college in any subject; (2) Complete an associate's degree in a field related to business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or real estate; (3) Complete 30 semester hours of college-level courses in specific topic areas specified by the Commission and two elective courses; (4) Complete 30 hours of College Level Examination Program Examinations covering topic areas in (3); (4)Combinations of (3) and (4); and having a Licensed Residential credential for at least 5 years with no disciplinary action.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1500 hours in no fewer than 12 months.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS: Pass a state exam. Submit appraisals and be interviewed by the Commission.
RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:
Renewal every two years contingent on satisfaction of continuing education requirements.
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Twenty hours every two years (twenty-eight hours effective January 1, 1998)
CERTIFICATIONS:
Two certifications for Certified Residential Appraiser and Certified General Appraiser are inlcuded withi this license. Additionally, a Real Estate Appraiser Trainee is also included.
