License Description
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER
Engineers use the knowledge of mathematical and natural sciences to develop ways to utilize the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of humankind. Engineers practice in a wide range of disciplines, from traditional disciplines like civil, mechanical, and electrical, to more specialized disciplines like nuclear and industrial.
Applicants for registration must complete:
a four-year degree in engineering approved by the Board
pass the Fundamentals of Engineering examination (which is waived if the applicant has 12 or more years of engineering experience acceptable to the Board)
obtain four (4) years of engineering experience satisfactory to the Board
pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering examination.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Notarized and completed application
2. Fees
3. Five (5) professional references (three must be from registered engineers)
4. Official transcript(s)
5. Verification of registration or examination from other state(s) (comity and reapply only)
6. Continuing education documentation and expired license affidavit (reapply only)
Note: If an applicant has a National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) record, the references (provided they meet the requirements of Rule 0120-01-.09 and are less than two years old), transcript(s), and verification(s) in the record will be accepted and do not need to be submitted separately.
