License Description TEACHERS

Teachers instruct students in subject matter using various teaching methods including lecture and demonstration; use audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations; prepare an outline for course work; assign lessons and correct homework; keep attendance records; and maintain discipline in the classroom. Teacher's license can be endorsed for many specialties, including elementary education, middle grades and secondary subject-specific endorsements, as well as many others.

REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least 18 years old and satisfy education and examination requirements. Contact license authority for additional requirements for endorsements.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of teacher preparation program at an approved educator preparation provider. Contact the licensing authority for additional requirements for endorsements and for updated requirements for the practitioner occupational teacher's license.

EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
Praxis Exams (Core Academic Skills & Specialty Area Tests) administered by the Educational Testing Services
