DENTIST
A dentist diagnoses, prescribes for or treats disease, pain, deformity, deficiency, injury, or physical condition of the human teeth or jaws or associated structures; extracts teeth, repairs or fills cavities, corrects malformations of teeth or jaws, performs oral surgery, takes impressions for replacement of teeth; furnishes or maintains dentures, bridges, crowns or other tooth substitutes; adjusts artificial replacement structures, gives interpretations of dental radiographs, or administers anesthetic other than topical for dental operations. A special permit is required to utilize general anesthesia on an outpatient basis or parenteral drugs for intravenous sedation. Certification specialities: Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Pathology, Pedodontics, Periodontics, Dedntal Publis Health, and Prosthodontics.
REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States or Canada, of good moral character and reputation, and satisfy educational and examination requirements.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Pre-dental college program, graduation from a dental school approved by the American Dental Association. Specialty certifications require additional graduate study.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS: The ADEX exam or Western Regional Examining Board (WREB) is required for any applicant who has recently graduated or who doe not have a license in another state under which he/she has practiced for five years. Any applicant who has failed any of the Board approved exams must pass that exam in any case. The National Board examination is required for applicants who have graduated from a dental college, school or university after 1972.
RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:
Every two (2) years. License expiretain current training in C.P.R. |
