License Description MEDICAL DOCTORS

A medical doctor treats, or professes to treat, operates on, or prescribes for any physical ailment, physical injury, or deformity. Licensing is also available for osteopathic physicians and medical laboratory directors.

REQUIREMENTS:
Submit the following: 1) two letters of recommendation from medical professionals; 2) a recently taken bust photo; 3) criminal background check; 4) confirmation of satisfactory completion from the head of the applicant's residency training program; 5) all other documents as necessary to satisfy education and examination requirements.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Pre-med degree, and graduate transcript from medical school reflecting a conferred degree (M.D.) whose curriculum is approved by the LCME. A US ACGME-approved internship of one year. If an international medical graduate: Verification of three (3) years completion of a residency program in the United States approved by the ACGME.

EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
Have successfully completed the USMLE, FLEX, National Board, or State Board exam. (Currently only the USMLE is given)

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
40 AMA Cat. 1 credits with at least 2 hours of controlled substance specific CME biennially.
