License Description PHARMACIST

A pharmacist prepares, compounds, and dispenses drugs and devices, whether dispensed on the prescription of a medical practitioner or legally dispensed or sold directly to the ultimate consumer; insures the proper and safe storage and distribution of drugs; maintains proper records and relates information as required concerning such drugs and medicines and their therapeutic values and uses in the treatment and prevention of disease.

REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least 21 years of age and satisfy the experience, education and examination requirements.

EXPERIENCE:
Fifteen hundred (1,500) hours internship.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy (BS or Pharm. D degree)

EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
National licensing examination (NAPLEX) administered several times each year.

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Thirty (30) contact hours each two (2) years of which fifteen (15) shall be in line contact programs as determined by the ACPE designation. A maximum of six (6) contact hours may be approved for programs approved by the board.

RECIPROCITY WITH OTHER STATES:
All states except California and Florida.
