CHIROPRACTIC X-RAY TECHNOLOGIST
License Description CHIROPRACTIC X-RAY TECHNOLOGIST

Operates x-ray equipment for making images of the skeletal system for diagnostic purposes. May offer chiropractic x-ray technologist advice and services to the public, specifically and only on orders from a duly licensed chiropractic physician.

REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least 18 years of age, of good moral character, and satisfy the education, examination, and internship requirements.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Be a high school graduate or equivalent and complete a minimum combined total of 48 classroom hours approved by the board and which includes such subject material as radiation protection, radiation physics, radiographic techniques, patient care and positioning, equipment maintenance, radiographic anatomy and physiology, X-ray quality control, and instruction of applicable Tennessee laws and rules.

EXAMINATION:
Pass to the satisfaction of the board an examination conducted to determine fitness for practice as an x-ray technologist under the supervision of a licensed chiropractic physician.

INTERNSHIP:
During the first year after obtaining a certificate of proficiency each holder must provide proof of 1,040 hours of clinical internship supervised by a Tennessee licensed chiropractic physician before license is issued.

RENEWAL:
Renewal is required every two years.
