SPEECH PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT
License Description SPEECH PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT

Under supervision, assists a licensed Speech Language Pathologist in providing treatment to patients. Is in a state of constant training, which includes Normal processes in speech, language, and hearing; A general overview of disorders of speech, language, and hearing; An overview of professional ethics and their application to the Speech Language Pathology Assistant activities.

REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least 18 years of age, of good moral character, and satisfy education requirements.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of sixty (60) college-level semester credit hours in a program of study from an accredited institution that includes general education, as well as technical content. The training program shall also include a minimum of one hundred (100) clock hours of field experience, supervised by a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.

EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
None.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
A minimum of 5 hours per year of approved coursework.

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:
Every two years contingent on satisfying continuing education requirements.
