AFFILIATE AUCTIONEER
An affiliate auctioneer is an individual who is under direct supervision of an auctioneer and is employed by an auctioneer to deal or engage in offering, negotiating, or attempting to negotiate a listing contract, sale, purchase, or exchange of goods by means or process of auction or sale at auction. The apprentice cannot deal in real property or use the title auctioneer without the word apprentice. (Among many exemptions are volunteers for churches, charitable organizations or political parties, tobacco warehouses, government agencies, and court ordered or sanctioned auctions.)
REQUIREMENTS: Be at least 18 years of age; honesty, trustworthiness, integrity, good business reputation, and competent; have sponsorship of a registered auctioneer; and satisfy the examination requirement.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 30 hours of rigorous classroom instruction in an auction-related subject approved by the registration authority.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS: Examination includes reading, writing, spelling, ethics, licensing, elementary arithmetic, elementary principles of land economics, and Tennessee law relating to bulk sales, auctions, and brokerage.
RENEWAL: Every two years.
