PUBLIC AUTOMOBILE AUCTIONEER
A Public Automobile Auctioneer is any individual who, for a fee, commission or any other valuable consideration, or with the intention or expectation of receiving a fee, commission or any other valuable consideration, by the means or process of auction or sale at auction, offers, negotiates or attempts to negotiate a listing contract, sale, purchase or exchange of goods, including motor vehicles.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must complete and submit an application. Must currently be a licensed Auctioneer to apply for a license as a Public Auctioneer License. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Served as an auctioneer for a period of two (2) years. Complete thirty (30) hours of rigorous classroom instruction in automobile auctioneering approved by the commission.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma, some postsecondary training.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
Complete thirty (30) hours of rigorous classroom instruction in automobile auctioneering approved by the commission.
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Auctioneers are required to complete 6 hours of continuing education per license cycle (two years). Continuing Education is verified by a Random Audit System therefore you should retain evidence of CE for a minimum of two cycles.
RENEWAL:
Licenses are valid for two (2) years from the date of their issuance and may be renewed within the sixty (60) days immediately preceding their date of expiration. A late renewal carries penalties from $50-$200 in addition to the normal renewal fees, and could involve reapplication, reexamination and/or additional education requirements.
