WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR GRADE IV
License Description WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR GRADE IV

Person qualified to control the manipulation of equipment and thereby determine the quality and quantity of the water supplied by a water treatment plant system classified as Grade IV. Certification is required for persons in direct charge of water treatment plants of Grade IV. (Some employers require additional operators to be certified.)

REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant must meet education and experience, and examination requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry or a related science and twelve months of operating experience at a Grade III or Grade IV water treatment plant
OR
High school education or equivalent and sixty months of operating experience at a Grade III or a Grade IV Water Treatment plant, with a maximum of thirty-six months experience equivalency allowed for approved education. A minimum of one year of actual work experience is required, regardless of experience substitutions.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Within each 3-year period each certified operator must satisfactorily complete a conference, training course, or school approved by the Board.

EXAMINATIONS:
Examination is written (except accommodations made for disability). It may contain matching, multiple choice, true-false, discussion, and short answer questions and may contain problems. 70% is required to pass.
