Authorized Company (COA)
License Description
Authorized Company (COA) The table below contains the Certificate of Authorization (COA) application form, and relevant application fees, to be used by all firms/companies who want to provide (or even offer to provide) engineering services for projects in West Virginia. This authorization is completely separate from the business license obtained from the WV Secretary of State. Before applying for a COA, all firms and sole-proprietors should consult the License/COA Verification link on this website at https://services.wvpebd.org/verification/ to determine if they have an existing COA. If unsure of whether you have a COA, or if you are required to obtain a COA, simply contact the Board office for assistance. It is IMPORTANT to remember that one is not legally permitted to practice engineering (or even offer to provide engineering services) in this state until the COA has been issued (W.Va. Code §30-13-17(a)). The WV State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers will only accept application forms that print out exactly as the ones provided on this site. If the forms do not print out on your printer EXACTLY as they appear on the screen, contact the WV Board office to request hard copies be sent to you through postal mail. You must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view and print the Adobe Acrobat PDF files or you may use Microsoft Word to open and complete the Word forms. If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat Reader program installed on your computer, you may obtain a free copy by clicking on the "Get Acrobat Reader" link at the bottom of this page. Applicants must read the WV Laws, Rules and Regulations for the engineering profession for which they are requesting licensure. Click here for information on the WV Laws, Rules and Regulations for this Board. Company Application MaterialsRequired for Firms or other Entities Offering Engineering Services in WV Certification of Authorization Form Appropriate Application Fees FEES TABLE Many of our documents require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print. Adobe Acrobat Reader is free for download by clicking the icon. To print any of the Acrobat documents, you need to click the printer icon on the Acrobat tool bar instead of the printer icon on the web browser tool bar.
