Limited electrical technicians and low voltage technicians maintain and install systems under 90 volts or specific items per license, as covered by the National Electrical Code. Requirements Apprentices: 1. Must be registered with the State Electrical Board, 2. Four years (576 hours) apprenticeship training. Journeyman: 1.Four years (8,000 hours) experience beyond apprenticeship training. 2.Pass written examination. Master: 1 Additional four years (8,000 hours) experience beyond journeyman license. 2.Pass written examination. Limited Technician (three types): 1.Years and hours of training dependent on license type. Contact licensing agency for more information. 2.Pass written examination. Low Voltage Technician (six types): 1.Years and hours of training dependent on license type. Contact licensing agency for more information. 2.Pass written examination.
