License Description
SOCIAL AND HUMAN SERVICE ASSISTANTS SOC Code 21-1093 Entry Salary $13.26/hr Average Salary $16.39/hr Job Description Certified Addictions Practitioner Assistants (CAPA) assist in the practice of addictions treatment, prevention, intervention, referral and follow-up under the supervision of a designated qualified clinical supervisor licensed in the state of Wyoming. Therapeutic interventions are limited to education and skill development activities. The practice of a CAPA does not include assigning diagnosis, making treatment recommendation, or acting as a primary treatment provider. Requirements 1.Age of majority. 2.Legal inhabitant of the United States. 3.Complete the education requirements specified in Chapter 4 of the Rules of the Board, which may be met by: A. Holding a current National Certified Addictions Counselor Level 1 (NCAC1) certificate in good standing from the Association for Addicions Professionals (NAADAC) or a current Alcohol and Other Drub Abuse Counselor (AODA) from the International Certification and Reciprocity Cionsortium (IC&RC), or B. Completion of an associates degree in addictionology, chemical dependencey, substance abuse counseling, or an equivelantly termed degree program, or C. Completion or 270 hours of addiiction specific course work and/or training including a maximum or 70 hours of general mental health discipline subjects (with 30 hours in counseling ethics) and a minimum of 200 hours related specifically to addictions therapy (with 6 hours of specialty training in communicable diseases). Restrictions Felony conviction. Misdemeanor conviction involving moral turpitude. Examination The Board accepts The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC), National Certified Addictions Counselor (NCAC) Level I exam.
