Radiologic Technologist/Technician
License Description
Description of Occupation: A Radiologic Technologist operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Radiologist. Positions patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.Requirements for Licensing: A license may be issued to any person who: 1. Has completed a two year training course in diagnostic radiologic technology or radiotherapeutic technology which has been approved by the Board, The American Register of Radiologic Technologist, or the American Medical Association, 2. Shows evidence acceptable to the Board of possessing knowledge of such subjects as: radiation protection standards and practices; basic human anatomy and physiology; basic physics including concepts of energy, electric power and circuits, and the properties of X-rays; radiographic exposure techniques; and histology. 3. Has one year of experience in one or more combination of types of experience such as: training and experience as a radiologic technologist, nuclear medicine technician, diagnostic ultrasound technician, radiologic technician. Training and experience as a practical nurse, nurses aid, nurses assistant,student nurse, or registered nurse. A medical aid, medical technician, laboratory technician, laboratory assistant, or similar type of position in a medical, clinical, college or industrial laboratory. A radiology technician in a non-medical capacity. 4. Shows service; education and training in the armed forces medical corps as an X-ray technician.Examinations: Endorsement.
