Purpose The award celebrates Jewish teens who have demonstrated impressive leadership and are actively engaged in community service projects that embody the value of tikkun olam, or repairing the world. Up to 15 selected teens from across the United States are acknowledged annually for their visionary actions with an award of $36,000, to be used to further their philanthropic work or their education. The award is open to Jewish teens who are residents of the US and are between the ages of 13-19 at the time of applying. Teen's projects can help either the Jewish community or the general community, so long as teens have not been compensated for their services. Nominations are due on December 18, 2020 and applications are due January 8, 2021. Teens do not have to be nominated to apply, however those who have been nominated must also apply. Qualifications Youths ages 13-19 (at the time of nomination) who are:

-Serving in a leadership role on a project/initiative aimed at repairing the world

-Self-identify as Jewish

-Volunteering without any compensation

-Residents of the United States

Note: Teens are not eligible for the Award if they have a sibling who has received a Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award in the preceding five years.
Criteria -Proven commitment to the value and practice of tikkun olam

-Demonstration of vision and creativity

-Effective development and implementation of a project or organization

-Dedication to the project over time

-Ability to impact a growing number of individuals and/or engage a growing number of individuals in the project, either as partners, participants or beneficiaries

-Ability to articulate the history, meaning and significance of the project, its goals, impact and potential to engage others
