Purpose To foster the professional development of those engaged in scientific and engineering activities; improves public understanding of the profession and its contributions; fosters education in engineering and science; promotes communication among engineers and scientists, as well as other professional groups; and stimulates outstanding professional accomplishments.
Focus Aeronautics; Astronautics.
Qualifications Applicant must have completed at least one (l) academic quarter or semester of full-time college work (Grad applicants must have completed 1 term of graduate level work and have a research topic approved); applicant must have a college grade point average of not less than the equivalent of a 3.300 on a 4.000 scale; Applicant shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university within the United States or its territories; applicant must be an AIAA student member in good standing to apply and must continue their membership during the time the scholarship is offered should they be selected; sophomores and juniors who receive one of these awards are not restricted from applying in subsequent years; applicants may be students of any nationality, not restricted by the U.S. State Department, in full-time study; postdoctoral students cannot apply for awards.
Criteria Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.
Duration Annual.
To Apply Applications must be received on or before the deadline. Students submitting their applications should include the essay (500-1000 words describing career goals); three references; official transcripts; and a research outline (for graduate students) of approved research topic (pdf format, 20 pages only, times new roman 10 pt. font) and also make arrangements to have their official college transcripts sent directly to AIAA. sophomore and junior students who have received one of these scholarship awards and wish to be considered for continuation of this award should arrange to have transcripts of their college academic record, and letters of recommendation from their faculty members and others supporting their continuance in the program sent to AIAA.
