Purpose To provide scholarships to underrepresented populations in the marketing profession.
Focus Marketing and distribution.
Qualifications Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S residents enrolled, on campus, in a full-time AACSB-accredited marketing doctoral program and have successfully completed at least one year; must have not previously received this award; must be African American, Hispanic American, or Native American.
Criteria Chair of the Scholarship Committee of the AMAF and the President of the AMA Academic Division will select an evaluation committee of past scholarship recipients, a marketing faculty member, and a member of the AMA Academic Council.
Funds $1,000
Duration Annual.
Number of Awards Varies.
To Apply Applicants must complete the online application and submit essays on how scholarship will help further the research efforts, in Microsoft Word format, within two-pages, double-spaced, in 12 pt. type (approximately 500 words); sources mentioned in essay should be credited on an additional page and do not count against the two-page maximum; must also submit two letters of recommendation(one from the applicant's advisor or Doctoral Program Coordinator, and one from another faculty member, preferably from whom the applicant has taken a course) mentioning candidate's academic work or initiatives that demonstrate a commitment to advancing diversity; essay also must address, How the dissertation research incorporates conceptual, design, or methods of issues related to diversity, any innovative theories or advanced, cutting-edge designs, methods, or approaches and contributes to advancing the field of marketing.
