Purpose To promote research into, and writing about, the history of aviation and space flight.
Focus Aerospace sciences; Aviation.
Qualifications Applicants must be senior scholars with distinguished records of publication who are at work on or anticipate being at work on, books in aerospace history.
Funds $100,000
Duration Annual; 12 months.
To Apply Applicants must apply through the Smithsonian Online Academic Appointment system; as part of the application, applicants will be required to include the following supplemental files: a maximum of 250 words summary description of the proposed research; a maximum of 1, 500 words of a research proposal; this statement should set forth the research plan, indicating the importance of the work both in relation to the larger discipline and to their own intellectual goals; a research budget for equipment, supplies, travel costs and other support required to conduct the research itself; a bibliography of literature relevant to the applicants' proposed research, especially that cited in the research proposal; an estimated schedule for each phase of the proposed research; a curriculum vitae or resume, not longer than three pages, including pertinent publications, fellowships or accomplishments relevant to their proposal.
