Purpose To support candidates to pursue programs of research and writing professional in tone and substance, but addresses to an audience with broad interests.
Focus Aerospace sciences; Aviation.
Qualifications Applicants should be interested candidates who can provide a critical analytical approach to major trends, developments and accomplishments in some aspect of aviation and/or space history.
Criteria Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.
Funds $55,000
Duration Annual; from nine to twelve months.
To Apply Applicants must apply through the Smithsonian Online Academic Appointment system; as part of the application, applicants will be required to include the following supplemental files: a maximum of 250 words summary description of the proposed research; a maximum of 1,500 words of a research proposal; this statement should set forth the research plan, indicating the importance of the work both in relation to the larger discipline and to their own intellectual goals; a research budget for equipment, supplies, travel costs and other support required to conduct the research itself; a bibliography of literature relevant to the applicants' proposed research, especially that cited in the research proposal; an estimated schedule for each phase of the proposed research; a curriculum vitae or resume, not longer than three pages, including pertinent publications, fellowships or accomplishments relevant to their proposal.
