Award Type Fellowship
Purpose To recognize a persons who have already completed their formal professional training.
Focus History, American; Humanities.
Qualifications Applicants must be a degree candidates and persons seeking support for work in pursuit of a degree may not hold AAS-NEH fellowships; candidates for advanced degrees must have completed all requirements, except for the actual conferral of the degree, by the application deadline for the fellowship; this includes the dissertation defense; foreign nationals who have been residents in the United States for at least three years immediately preceding the application deadline for the fellowship are eligible; mid-career scholars are encouraged to apply.
Criteria Recipients are selected based on: scholarly qualifications, significance or importance of the project; appropriateness of the proposed study to the AAS collections.
Funds $5,000
Duration Annual; 4 to 12 months.
Number of Awards Varies.
To Apply Application must be complete an application form online; You will also need to attach the following materials to your application form; Current CV; description of proposed research project no longer than six double-spaced sides; one page bibliography of relevant secondary literature; list of other funding sources for project; two letters of recommendation are also required; ask your referees to speak to the research proposal at hand-if possible, do not use general placement dossier letters.
