Purpose To introduce medical students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in medicine to the discipline of radiation oncology early in their medical education.
Focus Oncology.
Qualifications Applicant must be enrolled in a U.S. medical school and be in good standing at the time the application is submitted; must be from a racial and/or ethnic demographic group historically underrepresented in medicine (URM). Applicant must identify a mentor with a successful record of research productivity; primary mentor (and co-mentor, if there is one) must be an ASTRO member.
Criteria Races and ethnicities that have been identified as URM (including but not limited to American Indian/Alaska Native, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino and Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander) are given preference. Preference will also be given to first- and second-year students
