Purpose To promote the involvement of all minority groups in the Academy.
Focus Criminal justice; Law.
Qualifications Applicants must be a woman or a member of a racial/ethnic group that has experienced historical discrimination, be enrolled in an undergraduate, master's, or doctoral program of criminal justice/criminology program during some part of the academic year for the Annual Meeting at which the presentation will be made, applicant must have submitted a proposal for a paper presentation for the Annual Meeting on the ACJS website by the due date, the applicant must be willing and able to attend the Annual Meeting and present the paper described in the website submission, the paper can be self-submitted by the applicant student or submitted on the student's behalf by a faculty member, the paper submitted by the applicant may be co-authored with a faculty member; however, the student must be the first author and presenter.
Criteria Recipients are selected based on the AACJS Affirmative Action Committee panel's review of application materials.

To Apply Applicants must submit a completed manuscript (not more than 30 pages in length) examining criminal justice/ criminological issue; a 10-page, double-spaced, typed proposal discussing: the nature of the research topic; why the research is important, and where relevant; the methods used; the findings of the research; the theoretical, methodological, and/or policy implications of the results.
