Purpose To encourage students of color to enter the field of criminology and criminal justice.
Focus Criminal justice; Criminology.
Qualifications Applicants must be students of color, especially those from ethnic minority groups underrepresented in the field, including but not limited to, Asians, Blacks, Indigenous peoples, and Latinas/os; must be studying criminology or criminal justice issues; must be accepted into a program of doctoral studies.
Criteria Selection shall be based on the applicant's qualifications and compliance with the application details.
Funds $6,000
Duration Annual.
Number of Awards 3.
To Apply Applicants must complete and submit the following: proof of admission to a criminal justice, criminology, or related program of doctoral studies; up-to-date curriculum vitae; indication of race/ethnicity; copies of undergraduate or graduate transcripts; statement of need and prospects for financial assistance for graduate study; a letter describing career plans, salient experiences, and nature of interest in criminology and criminal justice; and, three letters of reference.
