Purpose To provide increased culturally competent mental health and substance abuse services to underserved minority populations by increasing the number of culturally competent Marriage and Family therapists.
Focus Family/Marital therapy.
Qualifications Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent visa residents who identify as Black/African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Asian American, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander, Hispanic, Latino/a, or Spanish origin, LGBT, bi/multilingual, or an individual with one or more disability (or another group underrepresented in the profession); must be pursuing a graduate degree in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy. Offers three different fellowship: Dissertation Completion Fellowship (DCF) - For doctoral students at the dissertation stage of their curriculum; Doctoral Fellowship (DF) - For doctoral students still in the process of completing pre-dissertation core curriculum; and Minority Fellowship Program- Youth (MFP-Y) - For masters students interested in service provision to the nation’s youth as they transition into adulthood (ages 16-25).
Criteria Selection is based on the submitted application materials and financial need.
