Purpose To assist students from Southern Wayne County communities who plan to pursue undergraduate education.
Focus Business; Education, Vocational-technical.
Qualifications Applicant must be under the age of 22, a graduate or graduating senior at a high school in the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber geographic area (Allen Park, Belleville, Brownstown, Flat Rock, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile, Charter Township of Huron, Lincoln Park, Melvindale, River Rouge, Riverview, Rockwood, Romulus, Southgate, Sumpter, Taylor, Trenton, Van Buren Township, Woodhaven, and Wyandotte); must be beginning their first year of college in the upcoming fall semester at an accredited, nonprofit postsecondary educational institution in a certificate/degree program; must be pursuing a career in business or a technical field; must have a minimum 2.5 high school GPA; must show involvement with extracurricular and volunteer activities along with paid work experience.
Criteria Selection priority will be given for one applicant pursuing a vocational or career technical program and one applicant who has overcome at least one of the following at-risk barriers: single parent family or family problems, as identified by an outside agency; economic disadvantage; physical handicap; substance abuse recovery; ex-offender; teen parent; or ward of the court.

To Apply Applicant must complete the General Application through the online portal. Applicant must provide a written personal statement that describes their educational plans and career goals, along with motivating factors and important experiences which have helped to shape their personal philosophy and future goals. A completed FAFSA is also required.
