Purpose To encourage and reward students majoring in the field of human nutrition, dietetics, foods, nutrition, or food systems management or admitted or enrolled in a dietetic internship who have demonstrated ability and potential in the field of dietetics and nutrition by aiding them financially.
Focus Nutrition.
Qualifications Applicants must be junior or senior undergraduate students, graduate students, or dietetic interns majoring in the field of human nutrition, dietetics, foods, nutrition, or food systems management or admitted or enrolled in a dietetic internship; must be legal residents of the following counties: Jefferson, Cullman, Walker, Bibb, Chilton, Shelby, Talladega, St. Clair and/ or an active member in the Birmingham District Dietetic Association and student members of the American Dietetic Association; must have cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above in major courses of study.
Criteria Selection is based on the scholarship; potential in the field of dietetics and nutrition ascertained by, for example: leadership in activities within and outside school, professional interest, honors, activities, and work or volunteer experience; financial need; letters of recommendation; and letter of application.
Funds $500
Duration Annual.
To Apply Applicants must submit a completed application form together with the official computed cumulative GPA (all post-secondary work related to dietetics) authenticated by a faculty member; a letter of application including statements relating to financial need, immediate and future goals, leadership activities, and personal attributes such as initiation and motivation for meeting physical, emotional, and family demands as well as graduate school requirements; and resume including personal contact data, education, honors, and awards, involvement in clubs and organizations including offices held, professional and leadership activities, and work on volunteer experience.
