Purpose To support one students studies through a $10,000 scholarship and
offer an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience beyond the regular
course of study. The scholarship recipient will participate in a 14-week
fall internship at Friends of the Everglades, helping to support the Young
Friends of the Everglades program and engage in community outreach.
Focus Environmental
Qualifications - Undergraduate and masters degree students in the South Florida and
Treasure Coast regions
- U.S. Citizens and permanent residents enrolled in a U.S.-based
institution
- Demonstrated financial need
- Intellectual pursuits include environmental studies, education, and/or
science curriculum
- GPA of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0
- Demonstrated commitment to environmental education and conservation
through volunteering, advocacy, projects, or other activities
- Ability to pass a Level Two background check required by all school
districts to go into public schools
- Participation in the Fall 2024 internship detailed below

*Internship Requirements*

- In-Person at Friends of the Everglades offices in Stuart, Florida
- 14 weeks during the Fall 2024 semester
- 15 hours per week
- Completion of a Capstone Project
Criteria Finalists are interviewed.
