If you have recently left the military, you may be eligible for Unemployment Compensation for Ex-servicemembers (UCX). You can apply in the state you live in after discharge, during the week you were discharged. To qualify, you must:
- Have been on active duty or in active Reserve status with a branch of the U.S. military.
- Have been separated under honorable conditions.
- Have completed the first full term of service for which you enlisted. For Reservists, you must have completed 180 days of continuous active duty.
- Meet all other state eligibility requirements.
If you don't qualify for UCX, you can still qualify for your state's regular unemployment benefits. Find out how to apply for both programs by selecting your state below.
Many states require you to file for unemployment benefits on the web. Some provide toll-free numbers or other ways to obtain assistance in filing.
